If you need a shortcut to Hungarian culture you can always try a Hungaricum. Hungaricum is simply put souvenirs produced in Hungary. It is goods or (mostly) products associated with Hungarian culture, knowledge and traditions.
The most popular of the Hungaricums today are gourmet delicacies but there are also typical Hungarian artifacts like Herendi Porcelain and handcrafts.
Tourists visiting Hungary usually bring back some of the most typical Hungaricums like:
- Pálinka (for example Vilmoskörte = vilmospear)
- Kolbász (Csabai and Gyulai)
- Paprika (from Kalocsa and Szeged)
- Hubertus (spirit from Zwack)
The easiest way to buy these are at the Central Market Hall (district IX. Vámház körút, 1-3)
